Academic Affairs

Welcome to the Office of the Vice President for Academic Affairs.  The Vice President for Academic Affairs (VPAA) is the chief academic officer of the college, overseeing academic programs, research, personnel, resources and support services.

The VPAA provides academic leadership and oversees the quality of instruction and research through collaborative work with deans, department chairs and faculty, addressing issues such as effective planning, management, and program reviews.

The VPAA administers and monitors procedures and criteria for faculty appointments and tenure promotion.  The VPAA also works to ensure the quality of student learning by enhancing teaching and learning, coordinating initiatives in undergraduate education and fostering a diverse climate campus-wide.

Academic Affairs is composed of eight schools, three centers, and a broad array of offices that provide services and support to the college.  The Schools are comprised of more departments offering 285 academic programs, majors, minors, concentrations, and credential and certificate programs.

The Vice President for Academic Affairs is the chief academic officer of the college and is responsible for the formulation and implementation of academic plans, policies, and priorities, and for the allocation of resources to carry these matters forward.  The VPAA provides the leadership required to achieve the highest standards in teaching, scholarship, creative activities, and service.
