Individual Tutoring
Students receive help from a trained tutor in specific subject areas. -
Group Tutoring
Students enrolled in the same class subject are set up in groups of three to 12 individuals. This enables tutors to help more students and encourages collaborative, active participation among the students during tutorial sessions. -
Fixed Appointments
Students book fixed appointments on an individual basis or in small groups. They then meet with a tutor at a specific time and date based on the desired frequency of the sessions. -
Open Labs and Centers
There are satellite centers and labs across campus that provide learning assistance on a walk-in basis. Students do not need to book an appointment for this service. Currently, the open lab facilities include the Biology Labs, Business Labs, Child Development Lab, CIS/CL Labs, Language Conversation Labs, Math/Science Center, Music Lab, Nursing Lab, Reading Center, and the Writing Center. -
Online Academic Support
ASC Learning Links provide free 24/7 online academic support materials and tutoring services. In addition to the above link, the site is accessed on the SWC homepage under Quick Links, ASC. - Online Writing Lab (OWL)
Receive Online assistance from trained writing center tutors for any written assignment. You will learn how to improve your own writing through clear specific suggestions for improving your paper.

Conversation Labs
The Language Conversation Labs enable students to practice oral conversations in a variety of foreign languages. Practice in the use of idioms is also provided. These labs include Spanish, Italian, French, ESL, Japanese. Other languages offered based on tutor availability. -
Test Reviews
Tutors conduct test reviews in many subject areas. For some courses, faculty provide tutors with sample tests, questions and exercises to assist students in preparation for scheduled exams. -
Workshops
In an attempt to reach a greater number of students, the Writing Center offers workshops designed to help students improve their writing and study skills. The workshops address different topics over a 12-week schedule. This services is free to SWC students. For students from other colleges, universities, and businesses there is a $20 per test charge. - Proctored Exams
The Academic Success Center is also responsible for Test Proctoring accommodations for students. Students provide the ASC with the appropriate Test Accommodations forms. The ASC staff then schedules the necessary exams. This service is free to SWC students. For students from other colleges, universities, and businesses there is a $20 per test charge.
