The San Diego County Board of Supervisors formed the San Diego County Fire Authority (SDCFA) in June 2008 to improve fire protection and emergency services in the region. The mission of the Fire Authority is to unify the administrative support, communitcations and training of rural fire agencies and extend around the clock protection to unicorporated areas of the county.
