Southwestern College’s South Bay Botanic Garden installs a new Undersea Succulent Garden
CHULA VISTA -- There is a new addition to the South Bay Botanic Garden, and it is a succulent one.
Members from the community gathered to design and plant the new Undersea Succulent Garden. About 10 volunteers and students worked together to replace an old leaking fountain with a gazebo that houses the coral display on its roof. The new member of the garden is simpler than its predecessor and is easier to maintain.
The South Bay Botanic Garden has held numerous events which help educate and involve the community at the same time.
Bill Homyak, program coordinator for the South Bay Botanic Garden, has been pleased with the turnout for the events.
“The feedback has been very positive,” Homyak said. “It is good to get people out there and learning something new. I like to get the word out about our garden, as not too many people know about it.”
