Technical/Production Guidelines

The logo should reflect the ideals and considerations of the Proposition R initiative. That would entail that the logo represents sustainability and usability. It should reflect the consciousness of all involved to construct environmentally friendly buildings that also reflect user/human centered design.

This identity logo will be the overall projected image of this initiative in the minds of the students, employees and community members. It is a primary task of the designer(s) to maintain and build this identity to accord with and facilitate the attainment of educational objectives.

Identity logos come into being when there is a common ownership of an organizational philosophy that is manifested in a distinct institutional (education) culture — the institution personality. At its most profound, the community feels that they have ownership of the philosophy. Identity helps us to answer questions like “who are we?” and “where are we going?” It also allows the community to denote their sense of belonging with the college.

In general, this amounts to a logo and supporting devices commonly assembled within a set of guidelines. These guidelines govern how the identity is applied and confirm approved color palettes, typefaces, page layouts and any other applications.

Identity design is often viewed as being composed of three parts:
  • Design (logos, uniforms, corporate colors etc.)
  • Communication (advertising, public relations, information, etc.)
  • Behavior (internal values, norms, etc.)
Technical and production guidelines would be as follows:
  • This will be used for both print and web display so a digital format file will be required.
  • The logo should display well in color and black and white.
  • If this is being created in a raster format (Photoshop), start in RGB mode, and that can be converted to other modes as desired. Minimum of 300 ppi.
  • A vector graphic (or one created in a vector program such as Illustrator or CorelDRAW) would be the most ideal format. This way, the logo could be scaled to any size and retain its sharpness and resolution.
