Southwestern College

Funding for Conferences
Applications for Professional Development Funding and/or Student Equity Funding are available in MyLearningPlan.

A very limited amount of funding is available each academic year (July 1 - June 30) for faculty, classified, confidentials, and administrators to participate in activities such as: conferences, seminars, college/university courses, workshops/trainings, online courses, and webinars. The Professional Development Committee will ensure that funds are disseminated equitably among all employees. Priority will be given on a first come first served basis (per constituent group) to those who submit a completed application and have not received funds in the previous academic year.

Here is a list of approved Out-of-State Conferences that qualify for Student Equity Funding. If the conference is not listed, 1) It may be taking place in the State of California (please complete an application); or 2) it may be taking place in a state that has enacted discriminatory laws (AL, KS, KY, MI, NC, SD, TN, TX), or 3) please send us an e-mail with the conference name and its web link. If the conference meets the Student Equity Goals, it will be submitted for approval for next academic year.

Important: Please take some time to read the Legal Update from the office of the Attorney General prior to requesting any type of funds to participate in conferences taking place in states that have enacted discriminatory laws and are subject to state agency travel restrictions.
