Blackboard released version 9.0 last year (2009) with the hopes of more closely integrating faculty and students with each other. The effort continues now with version 9.1. A much less dramatic change, the internal features play a key role in this newer and more cutting edge version of the learning system.

Blackboard Learn 9.1 focuses heavily collaborative learning tools. These include a variety of enhancements to existing features:

• Creating WIKIS,
• Textbook information and access,
• YOUTUBE embedding within the content areas,
• Grading rubric creations
• Easily adding videos, audio, images, mashups, lesson plans, syllabus, and course links
