What You Need to Bring to the Session
We can
help you at any stage of the writing process, even if
you are just trying to get an idea for an essay or understand
what your teacher wants you to do. We can help you understand
MLA format and documentation. We can help you read and
comprehend your assignment.
|
Bring
your ID. |
| Bring your assignment. |
| Bring your
writing. |
| Bring your
electronic storage device (jump drive, CD) if you plan to use one of our computers. |
A tutor
will work with you for about twenty minutes, looking
at an aspect or problem you might be having with the
reading or writing process. You can come back as many
times as you want for another twenty-minute session.
We will help you learn to edit and proofread your own
work, and help you develop skills to improve your reading.
These skills
will help your grades in all the classes you ever have
in which you need to write.
Online Tutoring
For online
assistance, vist the OWL,
our online writing lab. The OWL is currently open to any
SWC student enrolled in an English course or an online
course
in any subject. Like the Writing Center, OWL is free
for registered SWC students. Click on Online
Tutoring in the menu above.
We also invite
you to attend the weekly Writing Center Workshop Series.
Twice each week during the Fall and Spring semesters, different
instructors will be giving free presentations to help you
with problems students commonly have with reading, grammar,
and writing essays. Please check the Workshop
Calendar for a schedule of upcoming workshops. |
