SWC opened up conference play with a victory at Cuyamaca College 81 - 52. The first half saw Cuyamaca keep the game close with some timely buckets and a cold shooting half by the Jags. Teanna Williams got it going towards the end of the first half, but a long 3 point shot from Cuyamaca ended the half and saw the Jags leading only by 3, 37-34. The second half saw SWC blow the game open with a 15-0 run to start the half and put the game out of reach. Good full court defense and a hot shooting hand from Tiffany Depfer is what turned the tide for the Lady Jags. Southwestern was lead by Depfer's 16 points while Sarah Guerrero pitched in 13. Both Jasmine Bonds and DiDi Carrington had 12. Southwestern next takes on San Diego Mesa College on Friday Jan 8 at Chula Vista in a Pacific Coast Conference contest. Game time is 7pm.
