SWC Photo & Digital - about us
Mission Statement
The Southwestern College Photography Program serves transfer students, photography majors, students pursuing photography industry employment, and enthusiasts from the community.
The program places emphasis on both Professional Photography and Fine Art Photography. Most importantly, the program aims to develop the personal creative vision of each individual student. The program teaches important concepts and fundamental skills in photography. Students are exposed to historical philosophies of photography and contemporary trends. The program emphasizes content, technique, critical thinking, and applied learning.
The program aspires to stay current with Photography industry standards and technologies. As the Photography Industry becomes more digital based, the SWC Photography Program will expand the amount of digital classes offered.
The program encourages experimentation and collaboration with related programs such as Graphic Design, Telemedia, Journalism, and Studio Art.
