What is Tech Prep?

Tech Prep is funded through the Carl D. Perkins Vocational and Technical Education Act, it is a school reform that allows lifelong learners to explore career options and encourages students to go beyond their high school education, in pursue of a Technical Career.

With the Tech Prep program, certain high school/ROP courses are available to them; this not only gives a student an insight on a career but allows them to receive college credit for taking the course. It opens doors to what is out there in the workforce and the paths that they can take to pursue a lifelong satisfying career.

Tech Prep is also available for adults who want to pursue a new technical career or advance in their current careers. Southwestern College is connected to select adult schools throughout the Sweetwater district, allowing students to continue their education more conveniently.
