The Telemedia program at Southwestern College began
in 1982. It has grown and made significant advancements since then to
meet the challenge of providing quality educational opportunities for
its students. The program has done well to keep up with the extremely
fast pace of change in media technology and has been a leader among the
region's colleges and universities in the utilization of digital technology
in film/video production and post-production.
The Telemedia program recently moved into its new home in the Southwestern College library/Learning Resource Center building. This facility provides Telemedia students with an outstanding instructional environment, including a state of the art television studio, advanced film and video editing and post-production capabilities. It also provides the basis for the expansion of the curriculum into new and emerging areas of media production and instruction.
Telemedia is a rapidly evolving course of study that merges art and technology, incorporates a variety of disciplines and offers students an opportunity to learn about and explore this exciting field.
