Description: This panel will feature the story of Mr. Bruce Eaton. Mr. Bruce Eaton is a survivor of male rape and a survivor of a hate crime. He is currently employed at Southwestern College assisting Veterans with their certifications. He has a Master’s in Business Administration. He worked for the YES (Your Emergency Service) for 6 months in Minneapolis, MN as a phone counselor after receiving 40 hours of training to assist those needing someone to talk to. He worked for the Gay and Lesbian Hotline in Minneapolis for 1 year. He volunteered for 9 years training volunteers for the Lesbian and Gay Men’s center Hotline in San Diego where he co-created a training manual, trained over 500 individuals to answer crisis and information calls. He ran a Hate Crime support Group at the LGBTQ Center for 4 months. He worked for California Center on Victimology for 2 years and attended 2 National Organization Victim Assistance (NOVA) Conferences where he spoke once on Homophobia and another time on Hate Crimes. He volunteered at Center for Women’s Studies, speaking to groups of individuals, sharing his survivor stories throughout Southern California. Ms. Analicia McKee-Chau from South Bay Community Services will provide data and information on prevention and survivorship concerning the issue of domestic violence.
