Treatment of Minors

All children must be accompanied by a parent or a legal guardian, who must remain in the clinical facility during the appointment.  The consent for treatment must be signed by a parent or a legal guardian prior to providing treatment for children under 18 years of age.  Children less than three years of age may not be mature enough for clinical care, and a referral to a children's specialist (Pediatric Dentist) may be required.

The Dental Hygiene Program does not provide childcare services for parents while they are receiving care. Children cannot be left unattended in the reception area during a parent's appointment.

Also, children are not allowed in any clinic treatment area unless they are a patient receiving treatment.

NOTE: SWC students, staff, and faculty are not responsible or liable for unaccompanied minor.
