The School of Counseling and Personal Development wants all students to succeed. Our team of qualified counselors are prepared to talk with you about your academic performance, choice of career, personal goals, and transfer opportunities. We will provide you with individualized counseling sessions, exciting workshops, personal development courses and special academic programs or Learning Communities such as Puente, TELA, BAYAN, FYE, PAIR and Honors. We even have specialized counseling for our student-athletes.
Student Success & Support Program (SSSP): To begin your counseling experience, please ensure you first learn about SSSP and complete the first two Priority Steps to Success (Orientation and Assessment). These are important steps to ensure you succeed and acheive Priority Registration!
Next Steps: Then complete the Student Services Needs Assessment “Intake Form,” print it and bring it to the Counseling Center. A counselor will review it and within 7 business days email you a prescribe “Next Steps” you should take to plan your college education experience.
Student Education Plan (SEP): Once you have completed the Next Steps, you are ready to meet with a counselor who will assist you with your SEP. The SEP identifies all General Education requirements, Major preparation, Pre-requisite courses, and Graduation requirements. Each plan will be customized to match your selected academic and career goals. The below General Education Plans are important documents that you should review each year to insure you select appropriate courses and aviod repeated coursework:

Associate Degree for Transfer (ADT): If your considering transfering to a univeristy, consider our ADT's which are also called a "degree with a guarantee" because it guarantees acceptance to a California State University.
Personal Wellness Counseling
We understand that attending college can be stressful in your life. Students are responsible for classes, homework, part-time employment, and various personal obligations. Should you ever feel overly stressed or need to discuss a serious personal issue, feel free to come by the Counseling Center to schedule a confidential individual appointment with our School Psychologist or Marriage Family Therapist Interns.
