ACCJC Requests Special Report
Upon the request of the Accrediting Commission for Community and
Junior Colleges (ACCJC), Southwestern College submitted a special report
to address the findings of the Grand Jury Investigation regarding
former employees of the College and to demonstrate how the College has
implemented internal controls for construction funds to ensure fiduciary
oversight and institutional integrity.

We received the ACCJC response to our Special Report. The Commission has
accepted our report and commended the College for its work to improve
institutional business practices.

Accredited since 1964, Southwestern College is the only public institution of higher education in
southern San Diego County, serving approximately 400,000 residents of communities including Bonita,
Chula Vista, Imperial Beach, National City, Nestor, Otay Mesa, Palm City, San Ysidro, Sunnyside and
Coronado. The College District offers more than 312 associate degree and certificate options.
Southwestern College students can:
- take classes for credit;
- complete vocational programs;
- transfer their credits to another college;
- earn degrees and certificates, and;
- get financial aid and other student services.
