What are Student Learning Outcomes?
Student Learning Outcomes (SLOs) are statements that clearly identify what we want our students to be able to do, or be able to demonstrate upon successful completion of a course or program of study.
History of SLO Development
Beginning in 2003 our college staff began formal dialogue to build awareness of the four new Accreditation Standards.
Academic SLO Definitions
From assessments to outcomes to rubrics.
SLO Philosophy (
Learning is more than simply memorizing facts; it demands that students participate as they discover and utilize resources, master concepts and apply knowledge to solve problems, and that students think critically about their learning.
Academic SLO Assessment Philosophy
Assessment is an ongoing process aimed at understanding and improving student learning.
Institutional Student Learning Outcomes
Our Institutional SLOs include the major skill areas of Communication, Thinking and Reasoning, Information Competency, and Global Awareness.
