Priority Registration

If you are making progress toward your educational goals, priority registration allows you to sign up for your courses early. Certain criteria do apply, and Student Success Steps must be completed before you can earn eligibility.

Eligibility for Priority Registration

Completing SSS consists of three straightforward steps:

  1. Online Orientation
This is a foundational step to your experience at Southwestern College and will give you the tools you need to succeed beyond registration.
  2. Assessment and Placement
Your assessment and placement are either based on your high school performance or a self-placement survey.
  3. Student Education Plan
Work with a counselor to create a semester-by-semester schedule of the courses you will take while at SWC.

Additionally, you must remain in good academic standing if you wish to maintain priority registration. Do your best to keep your GPA at 2.0 or higher, and don’t take courses not approved on our Student Education Plan. Adding those units to your records will increase your chances of losing registration priority.

Priority levels will be assigned in the order of the number of units completed at SWC:

  • 50 - 89 units
  • 30 - 49 units
  • 0 - 29 units
  • 90 - 99 units
