I am Cynthia Ochoa

I am a performer. I am an actor. I transferred to UC San Diego with a full scholarship to study theatre arts. Southwestern College gave me the stage I dreamed of.

Education gives you the power to make decisions for yourself. It gives you the power to value yourself, to believe in yourself, to earn your confidence.

I am Chris Lawrence

I am a police officer, veteran and Purple Heart recipient who lost a leg in Iraq. I used my benefits to attend the Southwestern College Police Academy and make my dreams of becoming a police officer come true.

The Police Academy is taught by officers from National City, Chula Vista and San Diego and when they saw what I could do, it gave me my confidence back . . . That’s when I knew I could do it.

I am Giselle Florez

As an engineering major and the head of Southwestern's Society of Women Engineers, I hope to turn my passion for 3D printing into a career in aerospace.

I never had access to technology this advanced, ever.... The fact that Southwestern College has it right now, it’s providing an opportunity to all the students, and it provided that opportunity to me.
