Apply for Appointment to the Governing Board

Southwestern College’s Governing Board is seeking two broadly diverse, equity-focused individuals to fill the vacancies left by Tim Nader (Seat 5) and Nora E. Vargas (Seat 2). At a special meeting of the Governing Board held on January 4, 2021, the board approved filling the vacancies through a provisional appointment process.

If you are a resident of the Southwestern Community College District service area and are a registered voter, you are qualified to apply for the provisional appointment.

The Governing Board will fill the two vacancies on the governing board by February 15, 2021. The appointees will serve until the next regularly scheduled election, which is November 8, 2022.

Application materials must be submitted to SWCGoverningBoard@swccd.edu by February 1, 2021 at 4:00 p.m. and include:

  • Application (Fillable Word document)
  • A letter of interest addressed to the President of the Board of Trustees 

These materials will be considered by members of the Board of Trustees in determining who will be invited to make a brief presentation at a public board meeting on February 8, 2021.  Further information will be provided to those candidates about the board meeting and interview process.
