The Associate Degree Nursing Program was granted full accreditation in April, 2014 by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) with no standards in non-compliance, and has continuing accreditation through Fall 2021. The Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing and the Board of Commissioners granted continuing accreditation to our Associate Degree in Nursing Program. The next evaluation visit will take place Fall 2021.

PUBLIC NOTICE OF UPCOMING ACCREDITATION REVIEW VISIT BY THE ACEN
The Southwestern College wishes to announce that it will host a site visit for continuing accreditation of its Associate Degree Nursing program by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN).
You are invited to meet with the site visit team and share your comments about the program in person at a meeting scheduled at 2:30pm on Wednesday, October 13, 2021 in room 4500, at the Southwestern College Higher Education Center- Otay Mesa located at 8100 Gigantic, St. San Diego, CA 92154.

Obtaining RN licensure
Upon completion of degree requirements, the graduate is eligible to apply to take the National Council Licensure examination for Registered Nursing (NCLEX-RN). The Board of Registered Nursing (BRN) may refuse licensure to individuals who have been convicted of crimes that include felonies and/or certain misdemeanors.

The California Board of Nursing visited the ADN Program in fall, 2013 and provided continuing approval to the ADN Program for five years (full term) with the next review planned for 2018.
