Accountants are responsible for the management and reporting of financial data of an organization. Their duties include preparing financial statements, examining and analyzing company accounts, and ensuring compliance with financial reporting standards. Different types of Accountant duties and responsibilities may include:

  • Reconciling company bank statements and bookkeeping ledgers 
  • Managing subsidiary accounts for receivables and payables 
  • Verifying adequate documentation for vendor disbursements 
  • Updating and maintaining the company chart of accounts
  • Preparing month-end adjusting journal entries 
  • Utilizing accounting computer software to generate timely financial reports
  • Maintaining the inventory ledger and recording deliveries as received
  • Identifying opportunities to improve workflows and streamline processes
