The mission of the Math Center at Southwestern College is to provide an interactive and collaborative peer tutoring environment designated to encourage students to problem solve and develop critical thinking skills in the area of mathematics. The Center strives to improve students' overall attitude towards mathematics as well as provide an environment that demonstrates the meaningful role mathematics plays in our lives.
The Math Center on the main campus is CLOSED until further notice however we will be offering Workshops/Study Sessions via Zoom for the fall 2020 semester. Please click on the Study Session Schedule Tab below for more information.
The Math Center has one tutor who will be conducting online tutoring via the LAS. Please see below with instructions on accessing online tutoring.
The Online Math Tutoring Center is now open and available to all students! Located in Canvas, the center is staffed by tutors from the Math Center, the ASC, and MESA. Tutors work one-on-one with students live, and tutors are ready to help with the same dedication and skills we’re accustom to experiencing. Appointments are also available for DSS, EOPS, Veterans and general tutoring.
How Do Students Enroll?
The Las Online Tutoring Center can be found on the Canvas dashboard after the student signs into their MySWC portal, but first SWC students must self-enroll in the LAS Online Tutoring Center course to access tutoring.
Once enrolled, sign into the course, and click on the Math Tutoring Center button found on the home page.
For a video preview of the site, please view Current Options for Online Tutoring at SWC.
Stay safe. Stay healthy. Stay home if at all possible. We hope to see you all soon!
