Virtual Welcome Center

We are staffed to serve you Monday through Thursday 8:00 am to 6:30pm. Fridays 8:00am to 3:00pm.

Welcome to this one-stop to connect with us virtually. All of our Student Services departments have personnel to answer your questions.

Your first stop is our Virtual Welcome Center where we can answer general questions. If you require information that is specific to your records and applications, you will be referred to those specific departments. We ask for your patience as there is a high volume of calls.

Even if you know which department you are seeking, we ask that you begin in the Welcome Center because our representatives will be able to give you a comprehensive overview of which departments will best answer your specific questions.

Technical Requirements

You can login to our lobby with MySWC, Google, Facebook, and a Guest Registration. Students, be sure to login with MySWC so we know it's you!

If you would like to use your webcam and microphone during your meetings be sure to read the following.

MAC users: All web browsers work, but be sure to allow the camera and microphone in your session to meet with us.

IPHONE/IPAD users: You no longer need the ConexED app. You can join your sessions from your Safari Browser! Feel free to uninstall the app.

You can test your setup by using the Pre-Meeting check.

Current/Returning Students: Use your MySWC login so we can verify it’s you!

We recommend the following to use this service:

Know your MySWC login. If you do not have a login or SWC ID, please consider applying to the college.
All PCs, Laptops, Macbooks, as well as Android devices are compatible but will require you to use Chrome or Firefox. Apple users can use Safari browser.
Apple iOS users (iPhone and iPad) can use the Safari browser.
Use this service in a quiet and private environment.

Want to ask questions without using a webcam and microphone? Here’s how to chat with us.

Find the Virtual Chat section of a webpage, select an online staff/faculty member, and click on the "Knock On Door" or "Chat With Me" button.

Read the informed consent statement. If you would like to proceed press "agree"

Log in with your preferred method. Students, be sure to use your MySWC account.

Once logged in your chat will begin.
Once an appointment is scheduled you will receive a confirmation email from ConexED. Confirmations will only be sent to your Southwestern College student email and will contain a direct link to your scheduled appointment.

Make sure you do the following to ensure your appointment goes smoothly:
- Use your MySWC login.
- Use compatible browsers: Chrome or Firefox with a strong and sable internet connection.
- Note: A desktop or laptop is strongly recommended for video meetings. We cannot guarantee stability while using a cell phone.
- MAC users: All web browsers work, but be sure to allow the camera and microphone in your session to meet with us.
- IPHONE/IPAD users: You no longer need the ConexED app. You can join your sessions from your Safari Browser! Feel free to uninstall the app.
- Test your video and sound using the ConexED Pre-Meeting check.

Our online workshops allow you and other students to view presentations and interact with staff and faculty using your MySWC login.

Mac Users: All web browsers work, but be aware your camera and micrphone will not be needed for online workshops.

When logged onto a workshop you will see the following:

Note: Your camera will not be active at the start of the workshop. If you would like to ask a question through video and audio the presenter may bring up your camera during the meeting.

Raising Your Hand

During the workshops you may raise your hand using the “Raise Hand” button located near the top of the screen.

This will alert the presenter that you have a question. Once you have clicked on that button please wait patiently for the presenter to respond to you.

Using the Chat Function

You can also ask questions using the chat function.

Please be aware that your messages will be viewable to the presenter and all participants.

Exiting the Workshop

If you need to log off from the workshop you can simply click on the exit meeting button located at the top left of the workshop.
Cranium Cafe allows you to send and receive documents during your video meetings. Here's a few ways to scan your documentation:
- Computer Scanner
  Scanning the documents with a scanner is the best method. You'll just need to scan the documents, save them as PDFs onto your computer.
- Smartphone App
  If you don't have access to a scanner, the next best thing is downloading and using a no-cost "scanning" app on your smartphone. Google Drive has a great scanning feature that saves the photos to your drive and Evernote Scannable does a great job of converting pictures to actual documents (only available on iPhone). After the app "scans" your documents, download the files to your computer.
- Smartphone Camera
  If you don't have access to a scanner or don't want to download an app, you can use your smartphone camera to take a picture of each of the documents. You'll just need to email the pictures to yourself (from your phone), login to your email account (from your computer), and download the pictures. Please be sure the lighting is good while taking photos of your documents and please be sure the entire document is visible in the picture.

Note: For the best experience we highly recommend using a desktop or laptop.

Before Your Video Meeting

Be sure to have your documents readily available on your desktop or laptop. View the "Scanning Documents for Meetings" section of this page for more information.

Upload a Document

Click on the Document Upload/Share button

Click on the "Upload" button

Select the file you want to upload and select "open"

Once your document is uploaded you will see the following:

Open - This will display the document on screen for you and the staff/faculty member.

Share - This will send a link to the file in the chatbox. This will securely drop the file for the staff/faculty member to download.

Delete - This will delete the document from your account.
