The Professional Development Program at Southwestern College provides progressive activities that promote lifelong learning, cultural competence, and professional growth and development of all employees in support of the College District’s Mission and Strategic Priorities.
Our Vision
Southwestern College is a community of faculty, classified, and administrative professionals who are lifelong learners, enhancing their own professional development to better serve the needs of our students, and providing a model to students.
Our Philosophy
The Professional Development Program is committed to improving job performance and fostering the professional growth and development of all employees of the college. The Program encourages lifelong learning based on adult learning principles and diverse learning styles. The overarching goal of the Program is to provide integrated and comprehensive activities and events that enable all employees to acquire new knowledge about relevant educational issues, develop and apply new work-related skills, and enhance their professional growth. Finally, the Program strives to enhance the quality of the college environment by enhancing organizational development and supporting the vision, mission, and priorities of the District.
