Welcome to Training Services
Training Services offers training sessions at different levels for the following Institutional and commercial applications:
- Microsoft Windows Operating System
- Apple Operating System
- Basic File Management and Promising Practices
- Microsoft Office Productivity Suite (2010/2013/2016/365)
- Microsoft SharePoint Platform
- Colleague WebUI (formerly known as DesktopUI) and Colleague Self-Service
- Camtasia and SnagIt
- General technology related to office/classroom use (mobile devices, digital cameras, etc)
Sessions can also be arranged On Demand as long as an office can secure at least 5 willing people to be present on the first day of the training.

The focus of this training module is to introduce and empower new employees to most of our institutional systems and equip them with the skills and knowledge needed to be able to efficiently perform their responsibilities. At the same time, existing employees will also be able to benefit from this training by acquiring new skills, or by being introduced to new institutional systems. With this training, “STEAMers” will be able to gain the knowledge and skills in a collective and contributable cohort experience.

How Do I...? (RA)
This workshop serves as an open forum for you to come and ask questions about our institutionally supported software including, but not limited to: UIWeb, SharePoint, Microsoft Office (Mac and PC), Adobe Acrobat, and others. Learn time-saving short-cuts and tips and tricks that will help you to be more efficient at your computer. Think of this as an opportunity, as well, to collaborate and share with your colleagues some of yours and their best practices.Windows and Promising Practices (RA)
Are you a little lost with your new computer running the latest desktop operating system? Would you like to make your transition to the next version of Windows easier? In this workshop you will learn where and how to do all the things you were able to do in your previous Windows operating system. Additionally, some file management best practices tips will be shared with the audience.Google Suite and Apps (RA)
Do you wish you could take your work files with you anywhere you go? With Google Drive, you can. Come learn about this service and its many advantages such as unlimted storage (for current SWC employees), Google Shared Drives, Google Drive File Stream, and more.Cyber Safety 101 (RA)
Just how cyber safe are you? Come and learn some tips to protect yourself while at work and at home. Topics covered will be phising e-mails, safe web browsing, password techniques, mobile device security, and RFID skimming and prevention.Record and Edit Your Videos (RA)
Would you like to learn how to make, or even star in your own movies? Come to this workshop to learn how to create videos for office promotional, or instructional use. Learn various ways of recording video and how to add special effects and narrations to engage with your audience. Would you like to record videos from your computer on how to carry out certain functions of programs, applications, or operating systems? Come and learn how to record your computer screen to make tutorial training videos on some of the most widely used systems at SWC. Now that you are familiar with creating videos of your screen, it is time to make them look amazing. This workshop will introduce some of the advanced editing features such as adding Callouts, applying transitions, modifying audio and video properties, as well as green screen techniques and multi-track videos. Colleague Self-Service has replaced our WebAdvisor tool which will allow us to conduct all of our corresponding requests under one single streamlined interface. The idea for this new self-service was conceived some time ago, and we are fortunate to have the funding, as well as the interest and the support from administration to be able to present it to you all.
We would like to introduce SWC's Green Recording Room.
Training will be available through MyLearningPlan (MLP). Please log in to the MySWC portal to access MLP and schedule your training session.
