Institutional Technology
Planned Outage - Internet/Phone/Systems
To further strengthen our security and recovery efforts, Institutional Technology will be performing infrastructure maintenance during Spring Break that will cause the internet, network, phones, and most systems to be offline for up to 5 hours on Friday, April 3rd beginning at 6:00am and ending by 11:00am.
Most systems/services that are located on the Chula Vista campus will NOT be available, including:
- Colleague WebUI
- Colleague Self-Service
- VPN/Global Protect
- Phone Calls – Incoming & Outgoing
- Faxes – Incoming & Outgoing
GOOD NEWS – most cloud-based systems/services WILL still be available during the outage, including:
- MySWC Portal
- Canvas
- Outlook Email
- Microsoft 365
- Google Workspace Apps
- NextGen
- ServiceNow
Unfortunately, this downtime is unavoidable. The maintenance being performed will not only strengthen our infrastructure but also allow us to recover quicker should something affect our data center, like power outages.
Mission Statement
The Southwestern College Office of Institutional Technology (IT) is committed to providing
reliable and secure access to innovative, high-quality technology systems that support
the entire district and enhance the faculty, staff, and student experience.
Through strategic planning, partnerships, and collaborations, we will continue to
support the District to enhance the technological and academic experience of its students
and employees. We pledge to continue to develop the knowledge and skills needed to
remain versatile and responsive to the constant changing environment.
System Maintenance
Normal/routine and scheduled/urgent system maintenance and upgrades are needed from time-to-time to keep our infrastructure secure and running as efficiently as possible.
- Normal/routine maintenance is performed on Sundays from 8pm to 12am - systems and websites may be unavailable during this time without notice.
- Scheduled/urgent system maintenance/upgrades are announced up to 10 days in advance. If there are any scheduled/urgent upgrades scheduled, there will be a "Service Alerts" section visible at the top of ServiceNow.
