WiFi at Chula Vista Campus

While on campus, you will see the following wireless networks (SSIDs) available:

  • SWC_Employee
This is for SWC faculty and staff members. When prompted enter your SWC email for the username (example: jjaguar@swccd.edu) and your regular password. iPhone/iPad and other Mac iOS products need to accept the certificate when presented the prompt. Androids need to turn off Validating Certificate Authority (Validating CA) when presented the prompt.
  • SWC_Student
This is for SWC students. When prompted enter your student email address for the username (example: jj0012345@swccd.edu) and your regular password. iPhone/iPad and other Mac iOS products need to accept the certificate when presented the prompt. Androids need to turn off Validating Certificate Authority (Validating CA) when presented the prompt.
  • SWC_Public
This is for public guest access. The speed is greatly reduced for these users. There is no prompt for validating certificate.

Traveling Abroad - Blocked Countries

As part of a proactive approach to safeguarding our network and sensitive data from potential threats, SWC IT blocks access to some district resources and applications from countries that are known for being frequent sources of malicious online activity, such as phishing attacks, ransomware, and other cybercrimes. Blocking traffic from these regions reduces our exposure to these risks and is a common and effective layer in cybersecurity defense.

This proactive measure isn’t meant to stigmatize any particular country or region but rather to prioritize the district’s security and operational integrity. SWC IT continually reviews and adjusts these restrictions based on threat intelligence and organizational needs.

If you will be traveling abroad, please refer to the Country-Based Traffic Restrictions Article (MySWC Login required) before your planned trip to determine if your access to campus resources will be restricted.

IT Building & Data Center

The IT Building and Data Center is located on the south side of the Chula Vista campus in building 23. The building houses the offices of Institutional Technology and Institutional Research & Planning. It includes a smart classroom lab and two small conference rooms dedicated to both offices for training and collaboration.

Aside from being sustainable and conducive to net-zero energy with roof mounted solar panels, the building is equipped with upgraded network core switching, dedicated emergency generator, redundant fiber connectivity, redundant HVAC, and UPS.

The IT Building and Data Center was designed with state of the art digital and network capabilities to create more technological access and resources for a better learning experience. Due to the highly sensitive and expensive equipment housed in the building, it is secured, and access is limited to authorized personnel. Please contact the Institutional Technology or Institutional Research & Planning office to gain access to the building prior to your visit.
