Federal Supplemental Education Opportunity Grant (FSEOG)
FSEOG is a federal grant for students who have the greatest financial need. It is free money that you do not need to pay back. Pell Grant recipients receive first priority for FSEOG awards. If funds remain after all Pell recipients are served, students with the greatest financial need who do not receive a Pell Grant may also be considered. Funds are limited, so the sooner you apply, the better your chances of receiving an award.
How FSEOG Is Awarded
Students are placed into three groups based on financial need and Pell eligibility. Group One is funded first. If money is left over, Group Two is funded next, then Group Three. Within each group, awards are made in the order that FAFSAs were completed. The earlier you apply, the better your chances. Awards range from $250 to $500 per year.
Important Note: SWC sometimes awards FSEOG to more students than the amount of funding it receives, expecting that some awards will be canceled. If fewer awards are canceled than expected, your FSEOG award could be reduced.
