We've compiled a list of quick links to assist in answering common questions about Canvas-related tasks.

- To schedule an accessiblity review of course content, please contact SWCAccessibility@swccd.edu.
- Disability Support Services (DSS) can assist with student accommodations, as well as assisting with Facilitator, Captioner, and Interpreter enrollment into Canvas courses.
Admissions handles general student enrollment queries, while the OLC can assist with questions about student activity in Canvas.

- entering final grades

- processing Incompletes

In general, official course shells in Canvas should show on the instructor of record's Canvas Dashbaord a few months before the start of the next academic term. Check MySWC to verify instructor assignment and contact your school with questions. SWC faculty may create their own development or "sandbox" shells in Canvas to prepare in Canvas in the meantime.

In general, any video content created and/or used by an instructor for repeated instruction with students must be fully captioned in terms of accuracy, word choice, timing, and duration. And of course, if there is a student who qualifies for accommodation, all video content must be fully captioned (weekly meetings, live events, etc.) Please contact Disability Support Services (DSS) for information on student accommodation requirements and approaches.

- SWC's Distance Education Faculty Coordinator oversees DE-related training, DEFT certification, DE Mentors, and POCR.

- SWC faculty from each of the district's various schools are available for consultation about Canvas, course design, accessibility, and best practices in instruction. Visit the DE Mentors webpage for more information.
Generally, SWC's IT department facilitates software used for faculty productivity, such as access to Office 365 (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and more), the Adobe Creative Cloud suite (Photoshop and more), and TechSmith (Camtasia and Snagit). All students, faculty, and staff have access to G Suite as part of their MySWC Portal. IT also operates SWC's Zoom account.
If you have publisher applications, third-party apps, or other software that you'd like to use with students, please be sure to submit the appropriate form in ServiceNow to request an accessiblity review of the product.

- Enrollments: all instructor enrollments in Canvas are programmed through Colleague. If you do not see your name listed as the instructor of record for a course in MySWC, please check with your school. Once entered in Colleague, the system will take several hours to sync instructor enrollment with Canvas.
- Removals:
- If you are the instructor asking to be removed: kindly place your request for removal in ServiceNow. ServiceNow-->Instrutional Support Services-->Online Learning-->Other Assistance. Instructors can only be removed from a Canvas course if the replacement instructor has been entered into the system.
- If you are asking for another instructor to be removed: the request for removal from a Canvas must come from the instructor who is no longer teaching the course or the school dean or dean's assistant. ServiceNow-->Instrutional Support Services-->Online Learning-->Other Assistance. The OLC will check to make sure Canvas course content has been archived before resetting the Canvas shell for the new, replacement instructor.
- The Online Learning Center (OLC) assists faculty develop their online skills through scheduled training, as well as one-on-one appointments and just-in-time assistance through the ESARS online appointment booking system.

- ServiceNow is SWC's work order processing system. SWC faculty needing DE assistance can use ServiceNow to place request for help with:
- supercourse creation ("cross-listing" or merging course sections in Canvas)
- Tutor enrollments
- development course ("sandbox") creation and enrollment
- importing content from one Canvas course shell to another
- DE mentoring
Go to Campus Apps at the top of MySWC and look for ServiceNow-->Instrutional Support Services-->Online Learning. If you do not see your help type listed, simply use "Other Assistance" to place your request. ServiceNow requests are fulfilled Mon.-Fri. during regular business hours. ServiceNow request placed after hours, on weekends, or on holidays will be answered the next district business day.

- SWC faculty must complete required VoiceThread training first to learn how to use the program and make content accessible. Trainings dates are included on the Camp Canvas training schedule.
Faculty who've previously attended VoiceThread training may request VoiceThread installation into their Canvas course via the VoiceThread Setup Request link on the VoiceThread Training & Resources Canvas site (site enrollment provided to training attendees).
