Welcome!

April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month (SAAM)

Southwestern Community College District recognizes April as Sexual Assault Awareness Month (SAAM)—a vital time to acknowledge the impact of sexual violence and promote a safe, respectful campus environment. SAAM is especially important on college campuses, where education and awareness can make a lasting difference.

Throughout the month, we focus on:

  • Raising Awareness: Educating students, faculty, and staff about the prevalence and impact of sexual assault.
  • Encouraging Dialogue: Promoting open conversations about consent, healthy relationships, and bystander intervention.
  • Supporting Survivors: Providing access to critical resources, including counseling, legal advocacy, and medical assistance.
  • Preventing Violence: Hosting workshops, events, and trainings aimed at recognizing, addressing, and preventing sexual misconduct.

Join us in standing with survivors and building a safer campus community. Together, we can foster an environment of respect, awareness, and action.
