OmniUpdate Training

If you edit or oversee your school/department's webpages, you'll want to spend an hour watching the Introduction Training videos below. The videos will give you a good overview of the OmniUpdate website system, while at the same time, allowing your mind to start thinking about how you can use the features of the system to really make your pages pop! After that, you'll be ready for Editor and/or Approver training.

Before you start editing and/or approving content, it's important that you first get acquainted with the OmniUpdate website system and the potential it holds. The linked videos below will provide you with essential information to not only help you use the system, but also to get your imagination working. As you watch, think about how you can use the tools and features to make your pages look really great. You'll need a little over an hour to get through all nine videos.
- Introduction to the Interface (06:45)
  The initial process of logging into OU Campus and then some of the key parts of the system's interface. Notes: [1] we are not using “Direct Edit” link ; [2] you will login with your MySWC Account.
- Introduction to Gadgets (04:50)
  This video gives a brief introduction to gadgets. It discusses where to find them, how to determine which ones appear on the screen, and other important details.
- Editing Page Content (11:58)
  Learn the basics of editing content using OU Campus' What-You-See-Is-What-You-Get (WYSIWYG) Editor, and learn a little more about the Page Actions toolbar.
- Using Reusable Content (07:56)
  This video discusses in detail the differences between Assets and Snippets, the two types of reusable content inside OU Campus, and also shows how to add them both to a page.
- Using Page Properties (06:38)
  In this video, learn about how to modify Page Parameters for a page inside OU Campus. Page Parameters are found within the Properties tab of the Page Actions toolbar, and can be viewed and modified by level 5 users and above.
- Snippets Gadget (04:07)
  Learn how to drag and drop snippets into your page from the Gadgets Sidebar, and everything else the Snippets Gadget can do, in this video!
- Publishing Content (07:43)
  This video discusses the ins and outs of publishing content in OU Campus. We discuss the Final Check options, adding version descriptions, how to perform scheduled publishes, and finally how to trigger social media posts when pages are published.
- Page Check (08:14)
  Learn about how to use Page Check inside OU Campus, and also about Final Check, where certain Page Check options may run automatically when the Publish button is clicked.
- Setting Reminders (07:13)
  This video discusses Scheduled and Stale Reminders, and shows how you can set them for pages and other content in your site.
If you've been asked to edit your school/department's webpages, you'll need to be trained on how to use the OmniUpdate website system first. Editor Training is provided at various dates/times throughout the year. If you'd like to be invited to an upcoming training, please complete a OmniUpdate Editor Training Request form (login with your MySWC Account).
After an Editor makes changes to a webpage, the District's Technology Specialist for Access & Compliance reviews the page for Section 508 compliance before publishing.

If you oversee a school/department and would like to review pages before they are published, you can be included in the approval route (email your request to webmaster@swccd.edu).
